Facts about us:
- Our mission is to expand knowledge about prostate cancer by providing speakers and a forum for attendees to openly discuss and learn with confidentiality.
- Usual attendance is between 10 and 25. We usually send advance notice of meetings beforehand to our contact list. We often engage speakers and always request suggestions for those whose message will benefit the group; please make your thoughts known by phone call or email to Nelson or Jon.
- Men, women, caregivers, and loved ones are invited to attend. All are welcome. No need to pre-register. Bring a snack to share and the Cancer Center provides decaf coffee and condiments.
- Our independent support group collaborates with the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer (MCFPC), which provides guidance, publicity and lists us on their website.
We also partner with Maine General Health and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care (HACCC) and their annual Day of Hope each October. As a team, we fundraise for the walk and staff a booth to educate attendees on prostate cancer and invite them to our meetings.
